Paris Creative Writing Workshop Summer 2023

Why: Always wanted to write a novel but not sure how to start? Are you full of great ideas you can’t move past chapter one? Do you harbor journals packed with notes, manuscripts that got stuck along the way, outlines that work great in your head but not on the page, or drafts that won’t whip into shape? This workshop is for you.
What: Five days of immersive, intensive, interactive writing with Paris as your classroom, featuring individualized attention from expert instructors.
Who: Lauren Grodstein is the New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of five novels and a professor of writing at Rutgers University. Laurie Frankel is the New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of five novels and a former professor of writing at the University of Puget Sound. We are passionate, dedicated, experienced teachers and writers, and if you want to write a novel, we’re your girls.

I don’t have a finished novel/an MFA/lots of experience. Is this workshop right for me?
Absolutely. With Paris as our classroom, this workshop will cover basics like how to build characters, structure plot, develop and use setting, and tell the story.
I do have a finished novel/an MFA/lots of experience. Is this class right for me?
Indeed! In fact, the instructors will include personalized manuscript consultations for any interested students, along with help crafting query letters and advice about scoring an agent.
How much does it cost?
$1250 before April 15
$1500 thereafter
What’s included?
Five full days of instruction, workshops, daily guided field trips, generative exercises, writing feedback, final (optional) performance of your work, welcome patisseries, farewell dinner and celebration, one-on-one professional consultation with an instructor, and field trip fees including admissions to museums, exhibits, etc.
What’s not included?
Flights, lodging, and most of your meals.
